Peaches sat on one of the visitor's arms and got very excited. Nancy is just Nancy providing shelter etc. Now, don't expect a bird's paradise or upscale attraction. Nancy, most likely needs all the help she can get. Many of them said that they would have gone too. We were with 26 other people on our bus tour and not one of them knew about Nancy's secret garden. I wish more people knew about this place. She is passionate and so knowledgeable about the birds. Nancy rescues various types of birds and provides shelter and medical help. Peaches, a handsome, delightful parrot the color of.you guessed it "peaches". Nancy was in the back yard with several visitors. You walk towards the backyard, there's a little table with a glass jar (honor system) for the $10 donation fee. and checking the address, we found the little house nestled in a little neighborhood. ![]() It was not easy to find but thanks to GPS, etc. I saw this attraction on Trip Advisor, told our friends and we all took off in search of Nancy. We were in Key West enjoying the wonderful weather as part of a senior tour from Tennessee. We spent a WONDERFUL one hour here, and definitely recommend it to those who love these tropical Parrots and Macaws The admission fee is $10 and goes to the worthy cause of caring for, and supporting the lovely birds. She chatted with us for a little bit, informed us that Hammerhead had gone to the Beach with another handler, and then brought out a Blue Parrot from inside the house. It was amazing to see firsthand how these kind people seemed to connect with the birds. We then heard a few stories about how people simply abandon them, or how some become orphaned and depressed by their owner's death, and how they are cared for, and eventually rehabilitated by Nancy and her handlers. We were smitten with these adorable birds and their magnetic personalities. After about 20 minutes of interacting with the cute birds, Steve took some of them out of their cages one by one, and they socialized with us, and performed for us -They whistled, sang, talked, spread their wings, made kissing sounds, shrieked, cackled, guffawed, said "Hello", "Hi Baby" and "Hi there", and "Whatcha Doing?". ![]() Peaches is, of course sweet, but our favorites were Rock, the Hawk Headed Parrot, and Frieda, the Red Fronted Macaw. All of them have names, and details about them on plaques placed near their cages. Steve, who works for Nancy showed us that garden, and introduced us to each of the other birds. We saw Nancy in the front of her house and, after introducing us to Hammerhead the Red Parrot, she directed us to the back garden. There was nobody visiting this place other than us at 10 AM that day. We came here on our last day in Key West.
